About the Author

My name is Olivia Dick, founder of The Innisfree Project and a student at the International School of Florence in Italy. I grew up in rural Clinton Corners, New York, but went to middle and high school in Florence, Italy. My life has been shaped by a unique blend of urban and rural experiences—living in Florence (the cradle of the Renaissance) under the shadow of Galileo's scientific pursuits and the legacy of the Medici, and spending summers amidst the natural wonders of New York State, where I have dedicated myself to working at an accredited zoo and an ecology research institute. This contrast has fueled my intellectual passion and curiosity for the deep connection between humans and the natural world—a connection that offers both pleasure and solace, yet is often forgotten in modern life.
